Fall 2015 Workshops for Students Considering a Change of Major

“Finding a Best Fit Major” (AAS Workshop A):

Are you thinking about changing your major, outside of your current college, but not sure where or how to start? Explore various NC State majors and required coursework to find a “best fit” major leading to a specific career path(s). Preview the on campus transfer admission requirements and process (CODA) you will need to use to apply to a new intended major, outside your current college. Bring your laptop to this hands-on session that will introduce you to some great on-line resources that you can use to plan and support your “change of major/ college” transition at NC State.

Tuesday, September 15, 4:30-5:30pm (FYC Commons, Rm 108)

Thursday, October 15, 4:30-5:30pm (FYC Commons, Rm 108)

“Developing a Plan to Change Your Major” (AAS Workshop B):

Do you have a good idea of a new intended major, outside of your current college, but need help developing an exact plan? (i.e. For which classes should you register for the upcoming Spring 2016 semester in your new intended major? When/ how do you apply for admission into your new intended major via CODA?) Bring your laptop to this hands-on session that will help you develop a “Matriculation Plan” and review the process of applying to your new intended major.

Tuesday, October 6, 4:30-5:30pm (FYC Commons, Rm 108)

Wednesday, October 14, 4:30-5:30pm (FYC Commons, Rm 108)

Thursday, October 22, 4:30-5:30pm (FYC Commons, Rm 108)

——————————————————————————————————————–Note: Attendance at both workshops (A and B) is NOT required, but rather is an

individual choice depending on how far students are in the change of major decision making process. Students can attend Workshop A then Workshop B.

Students who are considering adding an additional major are also welcome to attend.

Pre-Pharmacy Club Information

Hey Wolfpack fam!

Hope everyone had a great summer and is enjoying this semester so far. I want to start off by introducing myself; my name is Sonya Habibi and I am a Senior in Polymer Chemistry. This year I have been honored the roll of President of Pre-Pharmacy Club and I am excited to get this year started!

Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 24th at 7:00pm in Fox 104.

(Room may change, but is set for Fox as of now.)

I also want to introduce the new VP, Brennen Guzik, and our Secretary/Service Project Coordinator, Amanda Mintz. The three of us are very excited for the things we have planned this year. Some of the events we have discussed:

-Intro to pharmacy/pre-health: Why might this be the path for you? What all can a pharmacist do?

-Admission advisors: Admissions teams from different pharmacy schools come to our meetings for your convenience; this is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have for applying to pharmacy school!

-Guest speakers from different pharmacy schools: Informing you on different programs they offer and sharing what makes their school special.

-Student panels: Students from different pharmacy schools come in and discuss life in pharmacy school

-PCAT help

-Extracurricular opportunities and jobs within pharmacy/health care field

-Conjoined pre-pharm meetings with UNC Pharmacy School (**M-FLIP is a UNC mentor program open to NCSU students interested in pharmacy —awesome opportunity! Fill out the mentee survey below bySeptember 11th, if interested.**)

Additionally, please join our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1519078608371900/

The list goes on. This year we are working on adding a few new events and making slight changes, as well as trying to provide more information about Research, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical sciences and Dual degree programs.

However, because there has been some slight changes and a new set of officers I do ask if you may please email me if you are still interested in being apart of this club. We are currently in the process of making a website where members can access club information in a more simple and organized way.

I’m excited to meet the many new members! Please email me at shabibi@ncsu.edu and we can add you to the new Pre-Pharmacy Club listserv in order to receive future announcements!

Thank you.
