2017 Siemens Foundation-PATH Fellowships in Seattle
PATH, a leading global health organization, in partnership with the Siemens Foundation, which advances workforce development and education initiatives in STEM, is launching the competitive Siemens Foundation-PATH Fellowship Program. The Siemens Foundation-PATH Fellowship Program is comprised of a cohort of six science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) students, who will join PATH’s staff in their Seattle, WA facilities for a three-month term, starting in May 2017. This program offers hands-on experiences in diagnostics and global health innovation as well as mentorship from scientists at PATH and Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Inc.
Four of the fellowship opportunities are designed for undergraduate and graduate STEM students and vary from hands-on laboratory research at PATH’s facilities to a biostatistics focus. New this year are two other fellowship opportunities available for technical and community college STEM students in PATH’s product development shop. At the conclusion of the assignment, the cohort will have the opportunity to meet their Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Inc. mentors who will visit Seattle to meet fellows and learn in detail about their project accomplishments.
These are great opportunities for STEM students to explore careers in global health and gain some valuable, real-life experience, while serving society by accelerating high-impact, low-cost solutions to some of the world’s most pressing health needs. The program also offers a generous housing allowance and living stipend to encourage participation from students whose economic situations may not otherwise offer the opportunity to accept unpaid or lower-paying fellowship or internship programs.
