The college of veterinary medicine will host its annual open house on Saturday April 23th from 9am – 3pm. Tour the hospital, the labs, the grounds. Talk with CVM faculty and staff. See animals! Closed toed, comfortable shoes are recommended for touring the CVM.

The Great Animal Orchestra Symphony

The Great Animal Orchestra Symphony
Sunday, April 17 | 4p | Stewart Theatre, Talley Student Union

In commemoration of Earth Month and in conjunction with community, university, educational, and local business partners, the NC State Music Department and Raleigh Civic Symphony Association present the East Coast premiere of The Great Animal Orchestra Symphony.

Based on the groundbreaking soundscapes of Dr. Bernie Krause, the music was composed by renowned British composer Richard Blackford and combines recordings of animals in their natural environments with a live symphony orchestra.

The Symphony will be followed by a panel discussion of scientists and musicians.

This annual conference features accomplished women scientists discussing their careers, challenges and successes, then talking with students in small groups over dinner. The session at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is an official event of the North Carolina Science Festival.

Changes to Nutrition (and Applied Nutrition) curricula

If you are a rising sophomore intending to declare a major in Nutrition Science or Applied Nutrition, there have been an important changes to the curricula requirements.

Sophomores in both Nutrition Science and Applied Nutrition are now required to take NTR 302 (Introduction to Nutrition Research, Communication, and Careers) in the fall of sophomore year. If you are having trouble enrolling in this course, contact Dr. Natalie Cooke at nkcooke@ncsu.edu.

Additional changes for Nutrition Science and Applied Nutrition are outlined below:

Nutrition Science
– NTR 302 (3 credits) is now required course for first semester sophomores
– BCH 351 has been removed as a required course and moved to an Applied Nutrition elective category
– Physiology elective is now BIO 212 and is 4 credits instead of 3 credits
– New requirement for writing-intensive Nutrition elective
Applied Nutrition
– NTR 302 (3 credits) is now required course for first semester sophomores
– BCH 351 has been removed as a required course and moved to an Applied Nutrition elective category
– Physiology elective is now BIO 212 and is 4 credits instead of 3 credits
– New requirement for writing-intensive Nutrition elective
– Instead of taking CH 101/102, CH 221/222, and CH 223/224, students now take CH 101/102, CH 220, and CH 201/202
